What dou you know about these preamps? I have an Ampeg SVT3 pro and a friend came to me yesterday with this older preamp, and IMO sounds much better than my new shiny SVT 3 pro. Deep fat sound!
Has J/J ecc83s tubes (3X), and my svt 3 pro has Goove Tubes ecc83S tubes (3x) in the preamp section.
  2. I have one as well and am very happy with it, I use it with a dynacord power amp, gives a nice fat sound with lots of attack in combination with my Spector fiver.

I've owned several. Bought the first one in 1990. Great sounding preamp. Much better, IMO than the preamp in the SVT-3 Pro. The preamp in the SVT-4 Pro is much more similar to the SVT-IIP, so if you like it, check out an SVT-4 Pro. That's what I did, and I've used the 4 pro since 1997!
