Ampeg SVT into two 8 ohm cabs?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Rugmaster, Aug 9, 2013.

  1. I read that plugging an SVT into a single 8 ohm cab is not the greatest idea. Would it be safe to plug one into two 8 ohm cabs since the two of them together equal 4 ohms?

Yes, but if it's an older SVT like before the 90's, you should daisy chain both cabs into a single speaker out on the head because they don't have the 4/2 ohms switch.

  3. Alright so I would just select 4 ohms and plug each cabinet into one of the speaker out jacks? I plan on getting either a newer SVT CL or a VR.
