I have a very sweet vintage (mid 70s) Ampeg V4-B in excellent condition. It was recently tuned up (new capacitors, replaced preamp tubes, replaced a couple resistors) and the exterior is one of the cleanest examples I've ever seen. Power tubes are 7027As and are in good shape.

I'm looking for $700 shipped and fully insured CONUS. No trades please. Paypal is OK.

I'll remove the power tubes and pack them inside the headcase. It will be packed very very well. I just sent a 66 jazz bass to Switzerland and it arrived just as it left. (I'm kind of a stickler for proper packaging).

    Located around Boston MA

The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm in GAS debt! Plus I have an 1970 blue line SVT that will fill the void.

    Thanks

I've thought about getting one of these, but not sure if I would have enough headroom.

I've never had a lack of volume, but I'm not playing metal. :D If you're not being heard adding more speakers is the thing to do. One of the coolest feature of the V4-B is the variable impedence selector that allows for 8, 4 or 2 ohms.

What I can understand is people running out of clean headroom. The V4-B starts to break up around 10 or 11 o'clock. Personally, I love that gritty, overdriven tone which is subtler than what I think of as distortion. Every time I take it out to a gig I hope people say "turn the bass up" just so I can get a little grit in there. So far, that hasn't happened.

  14. I gigged one of these for years, never an issue and always great tone. Not the cleanest at giggable volumes, but the tone is killer. Very warm, plenty of gas until you need Marcus Miller type tones. It won't do that at loud volumes. Much more usable than the 70s SVT I had used before it. Bump for a New Englander!

  15. wow.. that is mine's twin! you will have no problem with headroom. First time I plugged this thing into my 410 I thought the valve pressure was going to blow the cones right out of the magnets

Since it's already at the top....I've always loved the aesthetics of this amp....black tolex, blue-silverish sparkle, lovely white rocker switches....and the tone, in the top 3 of that tube category. And the 100 Watts are always about 118-120. Very beautiful example.....
