  1. heya everyone. i currently own an ampeg BSE-410HLF and i need a head to go with it. I have brought it down to either the ampeg B2R (350 Watts) or the SWR 350 (also @ 350 Watts). So here's my dilemma. The price difference between the two is about $140 so that isn't too big a deal. I was just curious if spening an extra 140 will get me a whole lot more power and overall good sound than from the ampeg. OK. thanx a bunch in advance.

I feel that the preamp in the SWR is better, I've owned both brands, I would buy the SWR.

    getting warmer
In MY opinion, which is the only one that counts by the way, neither is "better" than the other. They just sound different. To make the answer even more blurry, you can use either one for pretty much any style of music.

If you're into the Ampeg sound, SWR's will sound too twangy. If you like the SWR sound, Ampegs will sound blurry and muddy.

Personally, of those 2 you mentioned I would go for the SWR, but I would have a tough time deciding between the 350 and an SVT Pro3.
  4. I have the same cab, and am going to get the SVT-3 pro. For a long time I planned on getting the B2R, but for me, all I would have to do is save up a little more and i could buy it. I never really looked at the SWR, becuase I like the Ampeg sound. Right now I am just waiting for my local Mars store to get one in.

I have the Ampeg svt3 Pro. I have some
frustrations with it. The power rating
seems to be optimistic - if not downright
bogus! It's pretty heavy (26 lbs.) and
it takes like what seems like forever to
get the tube preamp warmed up. It
does have the Ampeg signature sounds, but
    when I A/B'd it w/ an Eden WT400, the
Eden was louder and had more clarity.

If you are really sold on the Ampeg sound,
then I would suggest the following. Buy
a QSC1602 for $599 from Lord Valve and
pick up an Ampeg SVT-Pro Preamp (possibly
used) and the rig will be about the same
price and weight (1 extra rack space though).
I wish I had. Then I could just ditch the
SVT-pro and buy a Demeter or Aguilar. :)
  12. Can I have the SVT when u do that?
