AmpegSVX novise

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by Mortocaster, Feb 24, 2008.

  1. Anyone got some hints on how to get the AmpegSVX plugin to sound good??

I can't get it to sound really fat and punchy without breaking up.
It just don't give a good impression of the bass..
I have the Audio Control 1 soundcard, and Logic pro on a MacBook.

I am (as you probably guessed already) quite new to software
bass, so any tip or links to "how to" is more than welcome...

How hot is your input signal (active bass?)
  3. Yes, but I have rolled down all controls to
Audere inboard pre in a Jazz, and the standard inbord in a Sandberg PM4 bass
  4. Try lowering the input gain a tad and lay off the ultra-high switches. Also, if the cab you're using is a 410, lower the tweeter.

I have had great success with the SVX plugin by using SPDIF to take the A/D conversion out of my soundcard's list of things to do. It frees up a lot of resources and allows me to get my latency down under 5ms.

Looking at it right now, my input gain is fairly low, that might help too.
