According to a guy that saw it in person and asked an Ampeg rep about it. It is a fully functioning head and cabinet. the head has an Ampeg preamp with 3 SVT poweramps to drive the cabinet. (Sorry, he couldn't be more specific on the models themselves, he isn't a bass player) The cabinet itself is basically 4 Ampeg 8x10's on their side with an additional row of 10's to fill it out to a whopping 36 10's.

God bless them. And I pity the fool who has to be THAT guys roadie.

"Um, can you just reach up there and tweak those low mids down just a hair? Thanks . . . Wait, wait, now give me a little more highs. That's it. Wait, now back the volume down just a tad . . . "

I'd be afraid it'd fall over and crush me, i dunno, it doesn't look too stable...

Of course, i wouldn't be able to stand near enough to it to be in danger without going deaf.

I wonder if that sounds different than simpily having 4 svt stacks?
  4. It looks like there is a lot of space between every other row of speakers. Seems to me that it wouldn't have to be quite that tall. They could probably have just made it deeper and shorter. Maybe then you would be able to adjust the amp without a ladder....maybe not.
  5. I'll take two please.

Actually 2 power amps, but who's counting?

We did get some inquiries from dealers wanting one.

We built it just for fun as a booth piece. Had to be bigger than the one we did years ago, so 4 more 10" total 36. The other one was 32.
  10. that is just totally amazingly awesome. if i went on tour with a huge band, i'd want that.

on the other hand, what if it had eight 15", or even 18" drivers?
  11. So what does it actually sound like?

What Ohm rating is that thing? (wipes drool from lips)

  13. Along those lines...

Any more interest in reissuing the real SVT? Anything happening?

I'd like to see an 8x18. Though I don't think I'd want to be anywhere near it. ;)

Wasn't there two like that made for the dude from some rediculously over the top band from the 80s?

I wanna say Dokken. Or are those 16x10s I'm thinking of that they made for said dude?
