Ok, so I know a lot of u are gonna think, What ? U only discovered that now? : )
But, I recently bought a stunning small PA system; 2 x active 12s and an active 12" sub. I line out of my little Hartle A 35 into my Mackie Mixer and my SR605 sounds amazing! The added amplification, with tons of low end, and suddenly the few frets that were a bit soft, are now coming through much louder, especially the B string. I've always hated the tinny sounding aluminium speaker on the Hartle, but with all that extra low end, that speaker really helps to punch the mids through. I've also upped the mids on the mixer to 3 o clock.
So it's all about amplification. Small Amps just cannot produce those really low notes as well so a note that sounds weak through a small amp sounds great through big sound.
I hope this helps people frustrated with weak B strings and other weak notes - basically, u need a bigger amp. There prob are small Amps capable of doing this, but they're prob very expensive - well, in SA anyway ($12 to the Rand)

  2. Don't blow up that PA.

And using texting short cuts is somewhat frowned upon here! :(

Isn't it nice to be inspired by your amp. :)

  5. Now imagine how much better it gets with a nice size rig going through a large P.A.

I would think if you'd bought a real Hartke speaker, insted of that obvious Hartle rip-off, it would have sounded much better...

How much longer would it have taken to add the y and o? A lot of people don’t text and object to the polution of the English language.

<sigh> What Talk Bass is is a community of players. Like any community it has rules, some official and some unwritten. Most of us follow those rules and have helpful and intelligent conversations. Then there are the others...............

The correct answer to my original statement should have been “Thank you."

Dude, listen to me! All I did was write an encouraging story about amplification.
Don't speak to me about attitude.
Some pansy with an attitude starts heckling me about the way I write "u" instead of "you"?
    Are u serious??
Has this creature seriously got nothing better to say than main about my grammar??
I don't give a stuff what u and him think about my attitude or my grammar!
U r like two flipping old grannies with wet panties - TAKE A HIKE!

Spelling mistake. By the way it's "dof" Afrikaans for stupid.
    Not "a" dof.

Someone spoke to you and you responded by poking him in the eye, period. You may now choose to rant, insult and blame others if you wish. I guess it makes you feel good....whatever. I am glad you're learning about amplification. There's a lot of good info available here.

    Lessons learned:

    1. Amplification is important

    2. Grammar is important

    3. Observations are not necessarily criticism

    4. Article 35 (the legal statute regarding escalation of force here in the USA) does NOT apply in talk bass threads.
