Long story but I recently picked up a set of pups wound by Jim Cairnes (ironically I mispelled it in the title) - who I'd never heard of, nor had Rick Turner or David at David McNaught Guitars (located down the road). Nothing on the net I could find on him. The pups were choice (review at Dimento's Soap Experiment) so I contacted some folks in England and recieved the following link in an email.

That I'd never heard of him doesn't suprise me but it did suprise me that respected luthiers hadn't so I assume they are not alone on this side of the Atlantic. So to create some awareness, here's a taste of Jim Cairnes:

I have a phone number for Cairns but still haven't obtained an email address for him, so if any of you guys from the UK know it, I'd appreciate the info.
