I need some help getting rid of this spyware. I already have Ad-Aware 6 and Spybot Search/Destroy. Both programs were unable to get rid of it.

I have tried going through the C drive files and folders and manually deleting suspicious items, but this hasnt helped either.

Anyone with good computer skills help me?

    Thank you.
  2. Did you upgrade ad-aware to the latest reference file? If not, I think that may be the problem. Just open up Ad-aware and you should find a update bar in the right hand corner.

ok, I updated the reference files for adaware and spybot S&D. I got rid of the WhenUsearch spyware/bar, but now it seems like I got a new batch of spyware. Theres one that seems to fill in my passwords for me, and another that completely hijacks all search engines in its favor.

    Anything else you recommend?

This will get rid of it, but if you don't know what you're doing, it will get rid of things you dont' want it to get rid of. (stuff such as what you have in your system tray)

I'm fairly sure that it will get rid of the problem where most software will fail, but make sure that you read the directions thourougly, and make sure that you understand it first.
  6. I recomend using Mozilla for a browser and turning off all scripts and plugins in the options. Or even turning off scripting/active x and install on demand in IE if you insist on using microsoft products.

Oh, and free stuff online has its price. Freeware used to be fun to play with, but it's not worth toying with anymore! The halfway honest folks disclose the fact that they install 3rd party junk in their license agreements but you can't always count on that ^_^.

    Yes, I am on XP.

Its gotta worse now. The screen resolution turned huge on me, and I cant seem to change it back. The search engine hijacking is still there, and my homepage has been changed. Any other suggestions? It seems that every time I run the ad-aware it gets worse.

I use Mozilla set to "Open Nothing" in Downloads with scripts and plugins off. So any time a site tries to dump something on my computer, I can just tell it to not download. Thusly, I haven't had a dialer, spyware, or unwanted programs on my computer since I switched to Mozilla.

I still run AdAware and an McAfree Anti Virus daily, and they've yet to turn up anything since August (when I switched).

    Mozilla rocks. Hard.

OK- take your computer somewhere where a professional can look at it. The only time my resi got all huge and i had these symptomns, everything went to **** and we had to get a new computer. Don't try to fix it yoruself unless you are going to reformat.
  11. I'm telling you, look at the link I gave you above. In your situation, I'd recommend deleting everything it tells you to--you can reinstall the things that it will take from your system tray, if you have any. I'm pretty sure that it will fix you

I used three programs to rid myselfof this nasty problem. I too found myself unable to link to or go to certain websites without being redirected to a search page that was not mine. ALso when attempting to rid myself of this malicious code it seemed whenver I searched for a found a proggy that would solve my problem the malware would prevent me from downloading it.

ANyway the programs i used where:
    CWS Shredder
    Spyware balster

I had adaware 6 and it was useless even with the latest updates. Hope you are able to take care of it. I know this really ticked me off having teh browser hijacking.
