Anodized pickguard

    Recently got an ano guard for my Pbass. Made me wonder...

    Why did Fender stop using them? I think it was ~ 1960, but was there a technical reason, or was it a typical Leo cost cutting move?

    Anyone have a clue?

    I can only guess, but economics were likely the deciding factor. The anodized guards do good job of shielding.
     
  3. Fender make reproductions from Anodized aluminum and also plastic. They are very hard to tell apart.

    Well, talked to a fender CS rep who told me that while there was nothing internally circulated re: this, his opinion was that Leo and others likely just wanted something different to differentiate the models.

    Just had to share...
