It appears to say, "made by C.F. Martin & Co." on the headstock. I would take that as a good sign, worth the hundred bucks. Sorry, I know nothing more.

Been in email contact with her:

    It goes as follows:

    ME:
    HER:
    ME:
    HER:
I am confused... what could she mean?

Only thing I can think of is that it's missing the tone knob.

maybe she means "intonation"? which would explain the need for using an allen wrench. if that's all that is wrong, grab it up!

The bass is a "Stinger" by Martin... cheap 80s-90s import. The body is likely plywood.:meh:

Don't waste your money. An SX is a better deal.

Yea, but you can't knock a $50 bass.

Turns out the Stinger was made by Samick for Martin, Samick makes most of the Epiphone models for Gibson.

  13. The Stingers I've seen have been, ummm, "unimpressive". 100 bucks seems a bit high for a mediocre '80's asian P knockoff.

    My opinion only...

Well, she refused $50, doubt I'm going any higher.

And that bass has intermitantly been on CL for a year at least.

  15. My first bass was a "Martin and Co. Stinger"....in black...just like that one....I wish I could get that shipped to me...for nostalgia's sake...definitely not for GIG's sake
