Hei! Thought it could be funny to put here some pics of this build... I'm actually building a fretted 8 too These are the specs: 34" scale 16mm spacing at bridge, 90mm nut 28 fret spaces Padouk body quarter-sawn Wengé neck Cocobolo unlined fingerboard custom humbucker in bridge position The design is a bridge between two of my models, the Stratos and the Swan. Let's take a look at the pics! Fingerboard and neck...
ooh, so your talking 10 string 10 string. i was thinkin double strings. no, ok, ill deffinetly watch this one. i would have anyway, but still
I'm probably going to start another topic for the other one In the pics: the body with the neck on and then the body with the neck IN!
Wow, very cool, I often wish I had a use for that many strings. My 8-string (doubled) is about all the range I can use, but it is so fun to have a monster neck like that, plus it's a great way to show off a nice piece of wood.
I have pretty big hands but both basses have thin necks... about 21-22mm. That clamping block is Olivewood (scrap of another build). It's hard to clamp such a huge neck, trust me!
Well... I'm looking forward to sand the bass and remove the tape from the fingerboard... that Cocobolo is really nice and on such a large piece you can enjoy the grain on all its width
