  1. I was wondering what sort of bass Raucus Rory from The John Butler Trio is playing in this here picture.

I saw these guys last night and they were AWESOME. The mind boggles....

  4. Logo looks like Alembic. But I have no idea what model. Not much of a alembic guy...

    But, I might be wrong.

Well, you could just have agreed with everyone else so far. It is an Alembic Epic, the Porsche 914 of the Alembic line. :D

Alembic Epic a Porsche 914? More like the Audi TT; small, fast, affordable, and entry-level, but still impressive. :)

    I think that's a Fender Stratocaster.

I have to agree with BW on this one. The Epic is definitely the Porsche 914 of the Alembic line. One of the least impressive basses that I have ever played.

Absotively posilutely no doubt an Alembic Epic. But what's up with the area just north of his bridge pick up? Is that a sticker or is that a hole in the body?

    Peace,

    James

btw - BW & Embellisher, as a seriously unofficial representative of all things Alembic on this forum, I'll defer to your assessment of Epic's place in the lineup. It is one of their lesser models (I think the Excel is the lowest placed model) but I've never played an Epic. I try never to comment on stuff I haven't played. I'd rate the Excel 5 above the Ken Smith Burner 5 I used to have, but below the Cirrus 5. I would expect the Epic to be better than the Excel.

I've never played an Excel, but I hope that it's better than the Epic. I can think of 100 basses at or below the Epic's price point that I would rather have. Maybe 200.

  12. Embellisher, I thought the same for the first one I tried. I found that it depends on the wood more than any other bass i've ever played! Some are not so good and others blew me away. A nice little bass all and all.

The truss rod cover is usually there. Looks like it was taken off in this case.

Edit: Sorry, I misread your post... I was looking at the area above the neck pickup. Yes, that other mark looks like a sticker.

    Peace,

    - Frank.

  14. Thanks guys

Has anyone seen this band live or listened to their albums?

I think they are going to the US soon, so if you do, per chance, happen to see em advertised get along and see em, they are probably one of the most original Aussie artists
