Biggest one I’ve ever seen on any of my basses. Could probably fit 2 picks in there. Doesn’t seem to have any negative effect. Plays fine, sounds fine, intonated fine etc.

    Thoughts?

Should be fine. Can you post a pic of the whole bass?

Here’s a few. Assume you want to see how everything lines up. Hopefully you can— 56C7B3B1-2B4E-400C-9FCC-48D859B69162.jpeg 06649752-392C-48FD-A562-7585763143C5.jpeg

Well, the gap would be much less if the neck was straight in the pocket.

You can tell it’s not straight from the pic?

Absolutely. The G string is closer to the edge. You could minimize the gap and make it more playable in about 5 minutes. Also the D string will be more centered over the position markers.

Generally not a big deal if it’s playable. But if you can shift it over that might help. MUCH easier to do with a helper.
    1) loosen the neck screws a little
    2) have a friend tilt the neck to the bass side while you hold the body
    3) clamp the screws down to secure the new neck position

well damn... my novice eye missed this.

It felt great but I’m certainly no expert.

The G string is also super close to the edge on my Ray5 so I just assumed it was normal.

How do you suggest I go about fixing it? Just pull the neck off and reattach?

It’s definitely playable. Felt great to me and as I said the G being so close I thought was just a stingray thing, as my Ray5 and Ray35 were the same.

    Thanks for the help!!

Looks like Aloomis1980 has you covered. Just loosen the strings before you do it.

Thanks guys. My anxiety levels are so high when receiving a used bass I bought over the internet but TBers always put my mind at ease!

Oh yeah, didn’t you have problems with a stingray recently? You have a right to be on high alert!

At least half of that apparent misalignment is due to the camera angle. Look at the bridge and notice how straight the B string is but the G string has a noticeable bend over the saddle. If the camera was placed so that both strings had visible bends that were about equal then the G string would not appear to be so close.

was wondering this. I tried best I could to hold my phone at the right angle. I will try again when I get a chance.

When you take a picture for neck alignment, on a five string, the A string needs to be arrow straight at the bridge and centered over the C fret marker (number 3 fret marker.)

Just a mini rant. That is not a cheap bass. In the days of CNC there is no excuse for that big of a gap in that price range. Maybe it plays fine but it is sloppy. If they are sloppy about this I wonder what else they are sloppy about.

I’m trying to get a good straight shot but I’m not able to center the A over the 3rd fret marker, not even at an angle. Here is another one:
I agree 100%. But this was purchased as used for about $1000 less than MSRP new so I would like to keep it. Doesn’t justify the sloppiness in production but just explaining my case.
