Since I changed my rig, I now have to choose between 2 heads and one has to go. I would be using the other as a spare or in rooms where I don't need brute power. Since I can run my preamp through the power section only I can go back and forth betwixt amps with pretty much the same sound.
Do I keep the SWR 350x ( its OK on its own but its no studio 220) or
Ampeg B2r ( don't care for the preamp, but its built like a friggin' tank and will still have 2 years of warantee, left)
    Help me decide.

If I had to pick a "sound", I would pick Ampeg over SWR. You know better than anyone else which has more volume in your setup, so you should know if either, or both, are underowered for your needs.

Maybe sell both and spend some time trying out more pricey heads? At least that's what I'd do.

OR ( a new wrench) trade for a used EA 1 10" cabinet straight up.
