    Bonjour,
This bass is a copy of a German "Anton Posch" built by Barrie Kolstein. He changed its proportions in order to keep a 3/4 bass size while reducing the string length to 38 inches. Therefore, this bass is still powerful but has a super short string length. Great for playing in 5ths, for people with short hands, or just in general for everybody who wants a simpler life.

The bass has been built as a 4-string in 2015, and converted as a 5-string last year. The good thing with this conversion is that Barrie kept the original neck and installed a wider fingerboard (see photo). This makes this 5-string super super easy to play on the left hand.

It comes with a removable neck; so there is the option to have a second 4-string neck (ask Barrie about it). It does not come with a flight case; only a soft bag.

It is currently tuned in fourths with a high C string (EADGC). I have also played it with a low C (CEADG), and in fifths with a high E (CGDAE).

    Features:
    - 5 strings
    - 38'' string length
    - Removable neck
    - adjustable bridge
    - Rabbath endpin hole and Rabbath endpin
    - Marvin tailpiece
    - soft bass bag (red)

    Dimensions:
    Full length 68
    Body height 42
    Scale length 38
    Upper bout width 19
    Lower bout width 26
    Scroll to shoulder 27

I am asking $7000. I am in NJ and frequently in NYC.
It is a very special instrument and I hope it'll find its very special owner!
I need the money to buy a super expensive instrument, so I am not interested in trading it.

Check out Tomoya's videos about this bass:

  11. Give him a call, he's pretty open on the phone. He contracts with Jiri Polovny's Fiedler Shop outside of Prague to rough-out and send over instruments in the white. The wood is supplied by Barrie from his personal stash, which is a hoot. The instruments are tweaked, finished and set up here in NY.

I need the money to buy another bass that costs an arm, a leg, and a kidney, but I could be open to suggestions. PM me!

And yes, definitely contact Barrie directly if you have questions about these basses. Phone call is better than email.

haha, not sure about the rate for a kidney in the US. I believe it's entirely covered by the French health insurance though :)
