I am looking to purchace a new bass. I have been playing for 25 years. I am in my early 50's.. Looking for something high end That will last for the next 25 years. With so many choices out I am finding it hard to narrow it down. Probably going to go with 5 strings. I certainly need a neck that just won't move.. Active/ Passive electronics. Been looking at Sadowsly - Lull - Modulus- even Fodera.. I've got the Carvin you see in my Avatar.. But it is a 4 string. I know... I'm all over the map... I play alot of club dates and also do the occasional Theater gig as well as blues and Jazz gigs.. I need one instrument that will handle it all . Light weight is important. I've got a good amount of $$ set aside for this purchase.. What's your suggestion...
Yo BD, There are a lot of great basses out there. I highly recommend that you play as many basses as you can to find out what you like and don't like. Your dream bass may be made of specs of many basses. Happy shopping! peace, anthony
Hey Jeff.. I hear ya.. You know lately I have had a bad case of GAS. I've got about 6 basses. They are worth $500 - $2,500.. I want to move them all. Except for the SB. The Carvin is a great bass and I do feel I can develop a relationship with it. I want a fretless and a high end 5 string.. that's it.. But I would like instruments that will hold their value. We all know Carvin re-sale is not good.. That's too bad..
I feel ya. The SB is my only bass now. The only bass I'm GAS'n for now is a fretless SB5000. Oh, and a Fodera, but I am miles (years) away from that.
