I mean Lapses in quality control. Most companies have those .
I already know that I am going to get burned from this one but, the years before Ernie Ball took over.
I've heard stories that around 1983 they had some issues with a run of bad necks with truss-rods that wouldn't work correctly. Somebody else might be able to clue you in better than me on this situation.
Id say Stingrays are some of the most consistant basses out there, id be comfortable buying any year, although i prefer the mid to late 90s for the abundant birdseye necks.
Any very Best year for StingRays?
Sure mine wiseguy
I like anyting after 1979.
I believe in 1980 they went to 4-bolt necks.
Later to 6-bolt.
I have a 1980 4-bolt fretless Ray that is my fav.
Anything with a four bolt neck.
