Any Canadians recently order a Carvin bass?

I'm looking at possibly ordering a Carvin bass... However, the shipping has me worried.

It costs $116 USD for standard shipping, and the bass will be shipped UPS, so I'll get stuck with the dreaded border brokerage fee.

I'm just curious what the cost of shipping may be when it's all said and done. Anyone order a Carvin bass recently who could help me out?

Thanks, I did read that but Carvin seemed to have changed their policies since then. It now states that Canadians are responsible for import taxes and duty. Duty shouldn't apply since the basses are made in the US, but not sure if brokerage fee is included as an "import tax".

I'll call Carvin and see if it's covered in their shipping or not.

I checked the UPS site and they say the brokerage fees should be about $85, but there are a slew of additional services and I'm not sure which ones would apply.

Thanks Baird. Yeah, I usually refuse UPS as well, but I have no choice with Carvin.

In the thread Neal posted, which is from about a year ago, the brokerage fees were included in the shipping cost as Carvin stated they took care of all import fees, but their website doesn't say that anymore.

I'll need to call them to clarify, just likely won't be able to until next week because of the holidays.
