So... which one do you like best and why?

  2. I like black pick guards and the color red. That's why I voted for Midnight Wine and Black Pick Guard.

Midnight wine with high gloss black is killer...but get the b-w-b layered guard.

    In my old way of thinking;
If you do burst you have to have Tort or custom flag or naked woman or such.
I really do not like blak basses or pick guards. That ois probably a hangover from the days when the 'cheap" instruments were all black.
But if it was me, I would buy whatever I wanted and could afford.

    Best of Luck,
    Wesley R.

Mid Wine - White: Don't care at all for midnight wine.

Mid Wine - Black: see above

Sunburst - White: A good sunburst is my fave finish, but with a good tort guard, not white

Sunburst - Black: This is OK, but prefer tort guard. To me black guards look better on yellowed oly white, than on SB.

My 2 favorite all time combinations are-

    (1) Good 3 tone sunburst with a good (not pepperoni) tort guard

    (2) Yellowed oly white with either a good tort or a black guard.

You can probably tell I'm a geezer.

    Midnight wine and white.

I don't really like 'burst and don't like black p/gs. OTOH, 'burst is okay with tort guard.

    Midnight wine and black.

I've owned three midnight wine MIM basses. First thing they do when they get in is get new black pickguards for a reason. VERY SEXY.

Sunburst + 4 ply tort...... oh wait, that's not an option.

When choosing black or white pickguards for a Fender, the basic rule should be black pickguards with rosewood, white pickguards with maple. It makes the transition from neck to body less abrupt.

By the by, I chose the wine + black.
