if you wouldn't mind i'd actually like to hear what you think of it. I'm debating getting one instead of an SVP-Pro. Have you compared the two?

No I dont have the oportunity to compare it side by side.

The SVP-BSP have a huge gain. The clean channel have a bass control on 40hz, mid fixed at 300zh and treble at 10khz. Have ultralow at 30hz and ultra high at 15khz. The clean channel is very clean, and have a huge low end.

THe overdrive channel have a bass control at 100hz, sweepable mid from 300hz to 2khz and treble at 7khz. Have overdrive boost.

I combined both channels, having the volume of the clean channel all the way up, and the overdrive to control the mid -high content.

It can provide this mid range punchy sound, that shakes your pants, and sorrounds yourself!!!

Let see if this can help! any questions, please

PM'd you. I will post some samples soon. Im letting the other ones stay on the page alittle longer. Those are only the aguilar. The next ones will be for the BSP.

thanks, post some for the BSP, although, those samples sound amazing, very clean the first one. What king of tube you are using? I have a jensen tube on it.

Looks like we play alot of the same gear. Actually, the clean clip is of the aguilar only. It is solid state. The best solid state amp I have ever heard actually. I replaced the tube in the BSP with a JAN/Phillips 12AU7 because it produced a nice, round, clean sound that was much tighter than the origional tube. I love the sound of ampeg tube amps but I find the bottom end to be alittle loose when playing with a band. The tube change helped alittle bit. The BSP recorded direct sounds better than the aguilar in my opinion. The aguilar works better live though. Sometimes I use both at the same time and that is a good sounding rig!

So you are not using the stock tube? 12AX7. This tube give more low end? if it true, then where I can get those? And why 12AU7 instead 12AX7?
    thanks

AU7 tubes have about half the gain of a 12AX7 so I can have a clean sound with the gain control up higher. I have a bunch of tubes and just experimented. The 12AU7 JAN/Phillips just sounded the best to my ears. It's a matter of personal taste and It will not totally change the sound of the preamp but you can hear a difference. Tubedepot.com

  11. because the overdrive channel is so gainy, try setting its volume very very low and mix it in with the clean channel. also try setting the clean channel with a little more bass than you normally would.

that is the best way i found to get a great, classic ampeg tone out of the BSP. i also thought the clean channel sounded great "flat" and much better than a typical ampeg clean. i didn't find the EQ to particularly effective.

i set the bass on the clean channel about 1 oclock. the vollume in the clean channel is set all the way up. Because the clean channel have a fixed frequency (300hz) i used the overdrive channel to compensate that. it is hard to get this, because have to turn up the gain and volume on the overdrive, getting a very dirtty sound. My setting to achive that are gain at 9 oclock, volume at 3 oclock.
