I only joined yesterday and I'm new to forums but I've gotten help instantly for everything I've asked so far with no negative feedback. This is my first account on a forum and I really like this community, I was wondering if you knew of any popular sites that discussed music in general? Preferibly with a Rock section, but if its got one for music theory that would be great too

The first I found when I tried googling it was classicrockforums, com but I didn't find the site very userfriendly.

There's a few subforums that may interest you here. Misc, General Instruction and Technique are three good ones, though not super active. I don't know if those will be what you're looking for, but if you haven't looked at them, they're worth checking.

I thought more of a place where I could discuss albums and a bands progress, other than just the bassist's. But maybe Misc got something close

You can always open a thread and see where it goes. Some threads die, some go crazy.

If you do so in OT... expect the unexpected however :) Misc. forums would be a safer bet ( but not nearly as fun )

    OT - off topic:

    Rule #1 - don't take anything seriously
    Rule #2 - don't have a thin skin
Rule #3 - try not to pee in your shorts from laughing

Misc. or even Bassist (although somewhat limited in scope) are good places for what you seek. I've chanced on some good topics and conversations in those places. I don't wander too much in the other places but I do full on lurk in Luthiers Corner and the effects sections.

The Recordings Forum is meant for just what you want, but Misc is also OK for posting those topics.

Maybe posting this on OT was a mistake...
Thank you! I didn't find much on Misc so I'll check it out :)

I think he meant outside of TB.

If the OP is still reading, here on TB discussion of bands and music in general goes in Misc and of particular albums in Recordings. Music theory gets discussed in General Instruction.

In the outside-of-TB internet, there used to be Harmony Central but I understand they killed it with a badly-done "upgrade." I haven't heard of any one general music forum that's really taken its place.
