I'm starting the process of shopping for a really good bass. Ive been playing for a long time, but all of my basses have been pretty cheap. I know from experience that cheap does not automatically mean bad, but i want to upgrade to something that I am going to be happy with. Ive been through 5 cheap basses in the last 5 years. Granted ive loved them all but I need something classy that ill be happy with for along time to come. Ill list the features I am considering and would appreciate any suggestions for brands and models you can provide. As far as price goes I am willing to spend the money to get what i want, but I am limited to 2-3k. Of course, I wouldn't mind paying way less but I am tired of compromising.

    Ok down to buisness.
    1. 5 string
    2. 2 octave
    3. push pull active passive switch
    4. rosewood or ebony fingerboard
    5. classy burst type finish
    6. 3/2 or 5 on a side tuner configuration
    7. PJ pickup arrangement
    8. good sustain
    9. versatile across many different styles and environments
    10. not sure if i want alder or swamp ash for the body

Any information and suggestions would be highly appreciated. Please don't be afraid to offer a detailed explanation and thanks for checking out my post.

Sounds very Lakland-esque in my opinion.
