For one, it's played on a 12-string bass with the E strings tuned down to D. Other than that, the bass line is a fairly standard walking blues line, using mostly major pentatonic.
I'm aware of his 12 string bass --- but he's playing a 4-string in the original '88 video. Is he just going up and down the scale?
Nope.... that's a checkered Hamer B12A... on a stand to make it look like an upright. http://www.12stringbass.net/master.htm?http://www.12stringbass.net/B12A.htm Most of the song is in G major, with a key change (modulation) to A major later in the tune. The beginning descending riff is A G F# E D C B A G.... Other than that.... maybe look for a program to slow it down, or find some tab somewhere.
my bad, I must have been too busy looking at the girls in the video to see the headstock... Thanks for the notes, and posting the link, those are cool basses...
