Original speaker from a Acoustic Control 106 cab.
    Needs new voice coil.
Has mild distortion but no tears.

Thanks, I was wondering why I got an error message when I tried to post it in the classified section. Guess I should become a supporting member.

  10. You might also try the Unofficial Acoustic Forum.
If there is anyone interested in it just for the rarity
and authinticity, it would be there.

Good luck with the sale (GLWTS)!

  13. Does this one have a slight voice coil drag?

I ask because it could be a case of having the VC just a bit off center.
It can happen on old speakers from many years of gravity pulling the cone down.
It can be prevented by removing and rotating your speakers 180 degrees every 10 years.
    Sorta like tire rotation.
Yeah, right! Who amoung us would remember?

However, if that is what is happening, it is possible to temporaraly soften the glue that
holds the spider with acetone and gently shift the VC back to center.
I have never done it and I highly recommend that if that appears to be what is needed,
find a speaker repair shop with an old guy that has seen and done it all.
Not a big deal for someone that knows what they are doing.

Thanks for the maintenance advice. Never thought about rotating the drivers. Think Ill do that with the original still in the cab.
I replaced the damaged one already with a new Eminence 1518 and it matches the original perfectly. I hate throwing things away if somebody else can get some use out of it.
