I am getting ready to buy new Amp. Prefer Combo, light, small footprint, as close to Pro quality sound, build and reliability as possible. Small to medium venues [50-150 Capacity no FOH. The nearest 2 Music store's are over 45 miles away and only have Saturday's to go listen and am trying to narrow it down. From doing online research/vetting these are my choices in order; 1. Markbass Ninja 102 500 [but been hearing bad things about Customer Service, Indonisia built stuff and tweeter] 2. Genzler Magellan 350 combo [not sure will hang with only 1 cab] 3. EBS Magni 500 2x10 [again only 125 watt at 8 ohm] 4. Markbass 121H combo 5. Markbass 102p combo [but prefer vertical and has 'that' tweeter] 6. GK MB210/212 ii [haven't heard these but recent GK stuff and older MB series I haven't liked] 7*. Trace Elf with 2x8 [ I have a feeling I would need at least 1x8 combo with 2x8 cab or head and two 2x8's for it to work hence asterisk and bottom of list. I have eliminated Fender, Ampeg and Hartke, have my reasons but not looking for debate. Would like to hear from those whom have gigged with these amps OR Are familiar with, know or heard someone who uses them. At this time I am using a 2018 Sterling by Music Man Stingray 34QM Bass
I don't think any of these will meet your needs. Too little power, not enough speaker surface area... ...EXCEPT for the GK MB212. @TrentB just crushed it! Nice & light, too.
I play the same genre of music as you posted and for about five years played in an eleven piece group. IMHO the combos that you have posted are not going to cut it without FOH. I would suggest lookin for good used. I don't know why Hartke and the other stuff is out, but I have three different setups, and one of them has Hartke speakers and they get the job done. get the job done nicely.
Pardons; I've been a total necromancer as of late with these old threads - seems I'm late to almost every conversation! Anyway, you likely have already made your decision and bought your choice of amp (like, almost a YEAR ago!), but... if it's worth anything at all, I posted a thread on my review of the Markbass Ninja 102 500 (that I still proudly own)… KEEP IN MIND; it's not often I play gigs that don't have PA support... but even for those, I stack the 102 500 vertically onto another Markbass 2x10 (Traveler 102P). So, our situations differ. Either way, in case you were curious: MarkBass Ninja 102 500: My review (bassist, cover band, many basses/effects, different gigs)... Cheers!

Cheers![/QUOTE] Hi Tricaptian, Yes and No; I bought a cmd 121p [Italian] for $450 used in mint condition. But if buying new I had decided on Ninja 102 500 with 121p 2nd knowing I could add cab, I would rather have only 1 box if possible. In rehearsals the 121p hangs and sounds good [not great] with loud lead player and dynamic drummer. Although I have been eyeing NY121 cabs USED [Italian] and starting to think maybe selling my 121p and getting a Ninja 102 500. I have always liked sound of quality 10's, Controls facing front, smaller footprint and taller, move a tad more air, and I have a 300 watt active powered Roland 15" Cab if I absolutely need it on rare occasion. I am pretty sure soon I will be adding NY121 or Getting Ninja Combo if I believe it will be all I need 95% of the time, I am not sold yet that the 121p combo can achieve that.
