guitar came from korea.

This may help explaining the provenance. Looks to me this is an instrument inspired by a Tobias -early 90's- or modified Toby -not sure how the Logo inlay was added- with upgraded with Ken Smith hardware and Schaller tuners. Mike's basses have flat (horizontal) tuners, these are angled like in a Warwick Thumb. The control layout is similar to a Tobias, but not the same plus the jack position is completely different.

Hmmm, yeah, it's as if someone made a custom copy, or maybe got an unfinished body blank from the factory? I mean, this is in Korea, perhaps the factory offloads seconds and overstock cheap? And might even have models / prototypes that never made it here to the States...
