They are bringing out a new Ultra series with allegedly slimmer necks, more noiseless pickups, and some body shape changes. I am surprised they didn't simply call it the G&L series.

I don't disagree with that at all, but I do make an exception for my 09 AmStd P, which gives me the choice. But the only reason I did that is because it's a black bass and Dunlop flats have black windings, and against the maple on the headstock they line up all pretty :D

I didn't bother trudging through the entire thread, so I apologize if this has been mentioned, but I heard they were going to announce that Leo Fender is alive !! He's apparently been cloned, and has been living in a secret underground complex in Argentina, along with the clones of Elvis, Hitler, Sasquatch, a Roswell alien, and Jimi Hendrix.

They went from a C neck profile to a D profile. That's actually a pretty significant change. The neck will generally feel more slender in your hands, less rounded. I can't remember if the compound radius is new, or if they just changed the radii in the compound. more later on that i guess.

I personally don't care much about the string thru thing. looks to me like they're going almost for kind of a new take on the quan badass bridges with the new version of the hi-mass.

It's the Ultra series. Fender likes to make a big deal over BFDs.

  20. Perhaps, at last, a bass that won't rash all my nice belt buckles.
