Yes - that’s the real crime. Plus wearing a sweater to a gig. JK.
Seriously, the surface mounted plate doesn’t bug me too much – it definitely doesn’t compromise the integrity of the attachment. Yes they should have used the CNC machine on the rear of the neck base so that it recessed/mounted flush. That would take a little more time and programming and might result in some scrapped necks if there are any issues with the wood - unlikely though.
I just looked at a number of my basses quickly - a bit older Fenders, Sadowsky‘s, etc. and all of them surface mount their plate. They also recess those damn screws!

Oh, I would probably love that neck, since my old Sterling had a D profile, and I loved that neck even more than I love this one.

Why do you think they called it "Precision" in the first place?

The Elites did have medium jumbo frets.

Am I the only one disappointed in the neck profile change? I like a beefy neck.

Everybody’s knocking Fender for revamping (somewhat) designs that date from 1957 and 1960. Yet, when Fender truly came out with a totally new design (Dimension) it bombed. They’re in business to make money. But, the buying public won’t let them sell anything but designs that are at least 61 years old. We only have ourselves to blame.

Why not? He's likely already driven a bunch of business to Fender.

Too mainstream - multi scale fretless....guitars.

  16. There's new series of all the range, Strat & Tele guitars, Jazz & P basses; I think the word 'Super' was a buzz-word?

Well, that’s where I went when Fender just stayed static for, well, generations?
Maybe they have made a 6 string? Or something that STILL looks the same as all their other basses from the Ark. good grief.

Probably not, but the fat necks is the main reason I've never been a Fender player.

They already make more ‘modern’ systems, like their ‘Studio’ series Combos, and very good they are too. Wireless should be defacto as far as I am concerned its the 21st Century, after all. Although anything done badly? And your fears are justified.
