I have a parts jazz with a fretless ebony fingerboard that I'll sonn be having a body built for (to replace a really heavy maple Might Mite body)...
I'm looking to see what solid colors would look cool. I'm also going to have the headstock paint matched. I'm thinking sonic blue or seafoam green, but I don't recall seeing a ton of basses with an ebony board and pickguards.
Anybody have any pics they would like to share to help me get started?

My personal jazz GAS would be a white finish with a silver pearloid picguard and chrome hardware. Or a mirror pickguard.

Or black with a tort pickguard.

Here's one supercool Sadowsky jazz w/ebony:

When I visited to buy my five string last winter, they had a lake placid blue four-string jazz with an ebony board that almost made me change my mind.....

Here's my Jazz with unmarked phenolic fingerboard (looks like ebony). Sorry, not great pic quality wise, and no pickguard / solid colour. But it IS blue, at least.

Here's the ebony board on my Sadowsky 25th Anniversary:

And while this is not on a J-bass, here is the (nicely figured) ebony board (with gold pearl inlays) that will grace my upcoming Skjold Exotic Custom 4:

And here is a shot of some raw "blistered ebony" boards (one of which has been used for my upcoming custom MTD 535 prototype; the other board is Rose of the Mountain):

Nice basses everyone, thanks. Joshua, I tried one of those Hamers before, thing kicked butt. I'm trying to decide if seafoam green body, matching H.S., ebony board and mint green pickguard would look cool. I haven't come across to many basses with ebony, and matching head. I like that mik uno jazz too, never heard of that one. Sunburst headstock looks pretty bad ass!

Yes. I agree. I think that would look sweet with a matching head...
Which is really what I'm trying to get a feel for, odd solid color, matching head, ebony board.
  17. I agree, totally...when I read this thread and started picturing an ebony-boarded jazz in my head, I had this picture...then I saw Big Mike's photos and said...

    THAT'S IT!!!

God, I love the ebony boards on those Hotwire fretless basses. Look at that grain.

Also, just gotta once again give it up for AJ's spalted burst Sadowsky #4311. Best lookin' bass I've ever seen, IMO.
