pics would be awesome!!
why have 2 post?
what band does this guy play in or is he soloist?
He is the bassist for Thrice.
sorry. ya hes in thrice, amazing bassist.
no pics but from the interview section of their live dvd he says his pedalboard consists of:
2 line 6 distortion modelers, a delay modeler with line 6 expression pedal. zvex fuzz factory, and a boss reverb pedal of some sort.
I always view this as a challenge, so here goes:
Sweet! Nice work vegas! So hes going into the line 6 dist. first and so on?
my best guess appears to be: TU-2->Z.Vex->DM4->DL-4 (w/expression; verified from another angle)->Boss RV-3. If anyone sees differently, feel free to correct me.
sick bassist i love the tone in this vid. how does he get that huge clean tone
Its probably the SVT, he seems to have a OD'ed tone most of the time.
It could be the DM4 but I have never owned one, the drive is very SVT-ish though.
From my own experience, the Grabber bass has a lot to do with that tone.
I guess, I could never get that kind of tone out of my old Grabber though.
He uses an SVT AV Classic head with an 810 and a grabber. All his pedals and gear are listed on his wikipedia page:
1976 Gibson Grabber Bass (his main live and recording bass)
Black home-made Grabber Bass
Wine Red Gibson Grabber Bass
Fender American Deluxe Precision Bass 5-String
Fender American Precision Bass
G&L L-2000 Bass
Fender Bass VI
Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler (with Line 6 Expression Pedal)
Boss RV Digital Reverb
Line 6 DM4 Distortion Modeler
ZVEX Fuzz Factory
Ernie Ball Volume Pedal
Ampeg SVT Classic Anniversary amplifier head
Ampeg SVT-8x10 cabinet
Nord Lead 2X 49-Key Synth
eddie is the ****. and lately, his use of effects has been amazing.
he has some really gnarly distortion on this song:
didnt he join the band after playing bass for a few months or something? maybe im thinking of another band.
yea, im pretty sure he or his brother was brought on with little experience and just spent enough time in the woodshed to keep up. theres not an untalented member in that band.
You are correct sir
+1 that band is amazing!
I saw 'em live a couple years back, and having never heard them before, I thought they were a bit boring. Of course, that could've been because they were on right before Deftones, who're one of my all-time favorite groups...
Any recommendations on albums/tracks to give 'em another shot with?
Listen to The Alchemy Index in order (Fire, Water, Earth, Air).
The Alchemy Index is pretty awesome. Very, very versitile stuff with a cool concept running throughout. Vheissu is a really cool album as well.
Eddie was actually a big reason why I started getting really into effects in the first place. He was the first guy that I ever really listened to that used a lot of effects in heavy music, and he always has awesome tone.
