I'd love to hear your impressions of their Jazz and/or Precision pickups.
i have a muy grande for P bass. it is punchy and hot, very low, smooth top, great low mids, not too modern, but not lame.
If you do a search for "Aero" you will see a lot of discussion on them. I've been using them in basses I make for a few years now, and I love them!
I feel the same way LM does
Thanks guys. Anyone else?
Not78pbass, I know who you are. ..one of the Clan (with a C, not K). Cool. Thanks for the review, brothah.
I've equipped 2 basses with Rio Grande for now.
A Squier Pbass witha VintageP, with mixed results. Definitely better than the original, but not THAT great. The instrument itself is not really wonderful.
A 5 string Lakland-style, with a Muy Grande Jneck and a powerbucker bridge.
This one blew my mind away. Huge and clean lows, one of the most beautiful medium range I've heard, punchy and warm highs.
Jazzie, I didn't know that about you. Sounds like the thing that held back the Rios was the instrument, eh? Huh. . . .sounds tempting.
I do a lot of instrument mod/fixing, so a lot of different PUs go through my hands.
In the case of the Squier, yeah, the instrument by itself probably didn't deserve such a PU.
I have Aero single coils in my FBB 5er, and they are so darn good~! I don't even need a preamp!
just curious.. how's the powerbucker?
Nice , very nice. Got two in a Peavy Fury.
Hey adam! Good ta see ya! Muy's in a SQUIER?!?!!?
Fremenblue, remind me elsewhere and Ill send you Mp3's of it.
I'd describe it as a Quarterpounder with a creamier sound.
I'll be over there in just a few, thanks!!
I have an Elrick NJS 5 with Aero single coils that just SMOKE. The sound is very "open" and bright, but in the mix it is quite sweet, vibrant & lively. Compared to Barts they seem a little more "alive" and not quite as full sounding in the mids. Almost like a more agressive, less smooth LP.
The pre is Demeter, so that definitely influences things as well...
Anyone compare the Rio soapbars to aero soapbars?
