Just curious if you guys have any good sound clips of your bass tone that you could post, just to let everyone know what you tone is like.. I have a clip I will post it soon... Let's get the party rolling..
Here is my "tone" it is my 1990 Yamaha Attitude Ltd. run straight into my pre-Fender SWR workingman's 10 combo amp. Live I use a MarkBass Jeff Berlin combo. I just love the way this amp sounds though . No effects during first part at all.. halfway through I add a slight compression and a very mild octave effect. This bass had more "growl" than any other of my basses.. I cannot use it for every kind of gig, but it works great on the Rock & Roll gigs.. I am working on other videos to show the unique sound of each of my basses.. 1989 Kubicki, Hamer 12 string, Spector Euro LX4, and a few others..
I'll play I suppose - here is a no-effects, clean tone sound clip of my ESSEX SX SJB-75. Run straight into an Acoustic B600H & recorded with an AKG Perception 220 condenser mic from one of the 10" Eminence speakers in my homebrew 210 practice cab. No after-recording EQ or compression. Sound out = sound in to pc. For a more "rock" tone, I generally run the B600H's Gain higher to get a light OD happening. http://www.zshare.net/audio/6316358046d326bd/
Most of the videos I've uploaded to YouTube have the camera ambient audio track removed and replaced for a direct-to-soundcard track recorded simultaneously, so you can get a clear idea of my tone. You can check them by clicking on the link in my signature. V V V V V
Here's clips of an Ibanez SR750 with new barts, no tone or volume pots, no preamp. This is direct to an ancient dell laptop. Live I run into a Mesa Walkabout and Bag End 15. I've since adjusted the pickup heights and the tone has gained clarity. I'm astounded how much height effects tone.
Here's what I'm coaxing out of my Takamine B10. Give it a few moments to load. "Just Friends-solo" is a short clip. http://web.mac.com/colleenorourke/iWeb/MDDavis/Welcome.html
