I just noticed at the local store that some of the new GSR 200's have a fourth knob with a tag around it labeled "Boom".

I tried it out and it seems like it's just a volume boost.

Anybody else have any more info ? I didn't see any mention of it at the ibanez site.

My ole SR300DX has an active circuit, too, it has bass&treeble boost, but in fact it only muddies up an already bad and weak tone... For a time, I was thinking of changing the equally bad (or even worse) pickups and electronics, but now I am rather thinking of selling it... I got too used to 6s, you know...

Yeah the SR300DX had the "Phat" knob. I never saw any kind of active circuits on the 200's though.

"Phat" is simply an active bass boost....30dB worth!!!

Obviously aimed at beginning players who want more bottom end.

Of course to reproduce a 30 dB boost cleanly would require 20 times the amp wattage to be reproduced
