I just bought a used Xotic 6 string and I have to say it's pretty impressive.

I'd love to hear from anyone of you who have experience or opinions about these basses.

    xotic.

I've heard nothing but positive things about these basses, but I've not had the chance to play one yet. Looks great.

    Yeah, it's pretty isn't it!

I'll try to take a few photos this weekend and post them here.

Something about it just says "Play me, Play me". Are those Kent Armstrong pups?

I'd recognize that brick wall anywhere. That bass is to be found at this very moment under the "used bass" listing at The Low End website. Where you'll find lots of juicy pictures, front and back, much larger than this one. It's a beauty.

  7. I'd hit that!

Awesome, and unique bass. There something about blue basses with maple tops that just make me crazy. And it's got a nice set-neck (NT?) too.

Yes, they are Kent Armstrong pickups. I think that they sound very warm and "musical" much like Lane Poor or Duncan soapbars.

At the link I posted, you can read the answer to your question: $2500. In my experience, Brian asks very fair prices and does not dicker. I confess if I'd had the scratch, it would be mine instead. DAMN sexy bass.

What are the electronics set up like?
I use my Xotic Tri-Logic preamp everyday--one of the most intelligent pre designs I've ever found(and great sounding). I wonder if that's essentially what's in your bass?

The electronics allow you to use the bass in both an active and passive mode with the tone controls operational. Quite unique!

    Big knobs are:

    Volume (pull for passive)
Mid Frequency select (pull for different range)
    Pickup blend

Small knobs are the 3 band EQ:

    Highs
    Mids
    Lows

There are two dip switches and a recessed pot that can be accessed through openings in the control cavity cover on the back. I have not played with them yet so I don't know what they are for.

It would also be a very reasonable purchase price, not "too much". Brian does not charge too much. Which is one reason I shop there...

  17. Very nice Spencer! I was eyeballing that on the LE site. It has one too many strings for me.
