Hi.. My name is Fikri, i'm a beginner bassist and i am newbie to music in stoner rock. Do you guys know a band called kadavar? I love the band whose name is kadavar. But here I want to ask, did you know the effect of bass that is used when the song entitled Kadavar - Die Baby Die ? . Can someone help me ? Thank you
Anymore, musicians are really open to those folks interested in knowing what gear they run. If you write them a little note, I’ll bet you’ll hear back from them.
If you post a link to the song with the bass sound you are looking for, more of us will take a guess. With my crystal ball and my love for stoner rock, I'm going to guess medium to heavy fuzz. I'll give a better guess after I hear the band.
Envelope follower filter fuzz high threshold triggered mixed with compressed clean signal. Cool band, don't like the vocals as much as the band.
That's a fun song! Sounds like @Bassbeater got it, so it'll be really cool to hear if the band gets back to you with details. It also sounds like a pretty scooped sound, like both pickups are on. I like that bass too, it's a perfect style for them. And I like the vocals, it reminds me of Jethro Tull a bit, maybe that's intentional. I might dig into them a bit, thanks for bringing them up!
I like it too. I thought I didn't like the vocal, but it was in my head after just one play. They have powerful mojo! Thanks @Fikri for bringing that in!
Vintage rock! You need tube (valve) heads cranked up and 15" cabs. I think he uses Orange amps. Ampeg SVT are also ok. Rickenbacker bass. With this gear you don't need pedals (for that tone) imho. Expensive gear, though.
This doesn't help much in this guy's situation Simon Dragon Bouteloup's Equipboard but, generally speaking, Equipboard is a really good site for helping figure out what gear musicians are using. Hope it helps and welcome to TB!
I can’t decide whether that’s pure cheese or super extra genius. Either way, it’s ear wormed me too. Great riffs, tight arrangement, simple and clever all at once.
Kadavar is great. IMO, the older albums hit better, they kind of lost me after Berlin. Not sure if it's the same bass player, but the earlier tunes (I believe) were Gibson EB Bass into an SVT panned hard right. Incredible bass tones.
I like it too. I admit I had to do a double take - at first I thought one guy was playing all of the instruments. These guys definitely have a "look"
It's a different bass player on that first one at least. He played some kind of Epiphone hollow body bass. I LOVE how it's panned so far like that!
