Hello fellow bass people. I just received a bass that I bought on Reverb. I was clearly lied to by the seller about the condition of this instrument. I sent him pictures of the damage and a detailed explanation of the problems but he refused to give me a refund. I contacted the site but apparently they don't work weekends. Has anyone else had this experience? I am very worried that I'll be stuck with this paper weight.
I had a case last year on a Martin acoustic 12 string. Seller had concealed cracks, listed "no returns", and claimed the cracks were shipping damage. Reverb listened to me, and I got the partial refund I wanted...and buyer and seller both ended up with positive feedback. It doesnt happen overnight, you have to work through the system...but I was satisfied.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I tried to contact Reverb but they apparently aren't staffed on weekends. We'll see what they say tomorrow.
Had the exact scenario happen 2 weeks ago. Seller did not disclose the correct condition of the instrument, and then refused to make it right Call Reverb tomorrow, not email. Talk to a rep and explain what is going on. They will send you a case number via email, and you can send them pictures verifying why this item was misrepresented They will take it from there.
Hello all. Although their site’s live chat is not staffed on weekends their support team did respond to my email. They are going to get their “resolution team” involved and schedule a phone call with me and the rep. You wouldn’t believe the state this thing is in. Frets are corroded, screw heads are stripped on the bridge, the neck is crooked (and there’s no truss rod) the nut is completely detached... you can slide it back and forth with your thumb, I could go on. And the seller listed it as mint condition.
Latest development... I sent a detailed video pointing out all the problems with the bass I bought. Far from "mint condition". Reverb forced the seller to give me a refund. I shipped the bass back today. I sent the Reverb rep a detailed video showing the condition of the bass before I shipped it. Given how dishonest the seller has been until now it seemed like a wise thing to do since he has to receive the thing and let the site know it has not changed since he shipped it. Reverb has been great but I wouldn't buy water from this seller if I was on fire in a desert. Bass should arrive Tuesday and the guy has 24 hours to confirm with Reverb. Fingers crossed.
Not ripped off, but Ive had enough bad experiences that I’ve given up selling on Reverb and eBay. Between that and the cost of shipping, it’s just not worth the aggravation anymore.
Well I finally got my refund. The Reverb resolution team as they're called were great. I made my case for the bass being far from mint condition despite being listed as such and they forced the seller to let me return it. I'm glad this is over.
