Anyone else on a Motörhead kick thanks to the ad on tv?

There is a joke in my house that Acura spent a lot of money just to sell me another MDX by using Motörhead’s version of Sympathy for the Devil in their commercial. My response is that I know at least one other person - meaning @Killed_by_Death - who might be inspired by that ad.

Well, Talkbass, who else is (re)discovering Lemmy recently? I actually like the version of the song in the ad better than the original (woo woos WAY less shrill). Somehow that has led me to have a better appreciation for Lemmy and his playing now than I ever did in my Ill-advised 80s metalhead phase.

That is so much cooler than the TV spot!

Lemmy did a number of very cool cover tunes over the span of his career.

My best friend in high school was a huge fan. He was murdered at the young age of 19 and I cranked Killed by Death as the funeral procession was pulling into the cemetery. I don't think his family appreciated it like he would have.

That ad didn't do it. I saw a photo of the original MH last night & it inspired me to play MH songs today:

Not too happy with my new strings, though.
The E string buzzes like mad with a pick played with any real force.
It's one of those with the exposed core at the ball-end.

A dear friend who recently died, his wife works for the promo company Motörhead was using so she got us (gf and 17-year-old daughter) in to see them at the Nokia (Los Angeles) Theater late last year. I hadn’t seen them in decades so it was ear-bleeding great. And my kiddo will always be able to say she saw them. The swag she was in charge of was hilarious: I took a BBQ apron and two vibrators to add to my old t-shirt from the 80s (with the little swastika not bowdlerized out like on all the new stuff). I’ll still never understand how Lemmy got away with all that nazi fetish stuff he was into. I suppose surviving the blitz gave him some leeway.

Lemmy was no stranger to advertising business. This remake of an iconic Finnish milk ad was filmed just weeks before his death on 6th of December.

Yep, just saw that ad last night. Had no idea about the post-humus covers album. Gonna listen to it today!

FWIW, I was just listening to Blitz (circa 1980), and the singer has a Lemmy sound and vibe; the band is punk with hardcore edges.
