Just curious if there are many folks around here who use a Rat pedal for distortion/overdrive.

Was originally looking into a Big Muff big tried the Rat and liked it.

It not something i've seen a lot of bass players using.

I'd recommend ppl to check them out.

    great pedals altogether.

There was a thread about this just a couple of days ago. Try searching for Rats and you'll find plenty of discussion about them.

Yeah, there are many. A lot of people really like them eventhough they lose a good deal of low end.

I recently got a vintage 80's one, it's nice but does lose a lot of bass but I could still think of plenty of applications for it but it would never be my only distortion pedal.

I had a Keeley-modded Rat that was supposed to keep the bottom end better. It was still un-usable for my needs.

  7. Chris Novoselic used one for the song "Breed" by Nirvana. I love that tone. I think I might snatch me one of them.

Great clipping, needs to be blended.

i noticed the low end thing a bit sometimes.

is there anything that could solve this problem?

i recently started using the rat with a MXR micro amp booster thingy that my guitarist was no longer using. i stumbled upon a winner there.

    A blender pedal, perhaps?

  12. I use a Rat quite a bit but mainly on piccolo bass for that nasty Jeff Beck tone. When I use it on bass I will blend it with clean signal unless I want that skinny bottom bass tone for a bass solo.
