Anyone else using their 55-02 passive?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Woofenstein, Sep 4, 2005.

  1. I purchased a Lakland 55-02 about two months ago, and initially only used the bass in active mode - and loved it. I started using this bass passive about a week or so ago, and I am amazed at how good it sounds passive! To me, it's much more natural then the active tone of the bass (keep in mind - I have primarily been a passive bass player in the past). Gets a great midrangy tone with the blend control set flat - and growls nicely (without being over the top) when pushed a bit to the MM pickup. To me the tone is a bit more "buttery" in passive mode. As you can tell, I'm very happy with the performance of this bass in passive mode!

Does anyone else prefer the passive tone of their 55-02?

I've used my 55-94 in passive in some situations, maybe because I just got it and haven't gotten used to the preamp yet. But depending on the room/gig I've been known to use it passive. Sounds AMAZING!
