Anyone ever change Dean Rhapsody 8 pups?

    I have a Dean Rhapsody 8 string with the EMG-HZ pickups. The sound is OK and I can live with it, but just not quite meaty enough and I wonder if I could improve it. Has anyone ever changed the pickups in a Rhapsody 8? If so how do they sound with the 8 strings? Not sure if I would change the pre-amp or not (the "Dean 3D" pre amp). Has anyone ever made any of these modifications to the Rhapsody?
    The 1 mod I am getting ready to do is to add Dunlop straplocks because the strap has already come off a couple of time on me (luckily I have been able to catch the bass before it hit the floor).
