I have a dremel tool and a small plunge router and I want to see if anyone has any pointers. The reason I ask is because I need to make some custom pickguards (custom as in shape.)
i've built a few now. you might want to checkout 'hambone custom basses' website. allan gave me a ton of pointers that you really need in order to make a nice looking guard. your template needs to be perfect and takes most of your time. or check out some of the threads on TB... for example the one below... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272754&highlight=pickguard+building
feel welcome to drop any follow-on questions in the thread BB linked to in the Luthier's Corner forum. I'll be most happy to add what I can to clarify things for you and to make it easier to find in the future, it's been included in the stickied FAQ for that forum all the best, R
hey check out my custom. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337633 I used a piece of Wenge to make a custom pickguard. -James
