It occurs to me if the bridge pickup locations are the same, dropping a MM pup and pre in a T-40 could be a cheap way to capture some vintage StingRay like tone.....I'm aware the Ray has a couple more frets but the sound would be fairly close? With all that ash and maple, and thru-body stringing the tone recipe is there....I've owned a few T-40's in the past but never modded them. I certainly think stock they are plenty wicked but I've been thinking about a vintage Ray lately and just don't have 2k+ to drop on one....So has anyone tried this and what were the results?
