I had one when they where new. And thought it among the best sounding JJ pup basses with heavy overdrive and pick playing, that Id ever heard. But I dont well rememeber how I rated it for growl factor. Hoping some could give their opinion on the growl factor for them. Got an opportunity to get a nice condition used one and thats only thing holding me back. I do remember I liked the B10 voice better then the higher up models that had emg select pups JP and JJ configuration. Thanks for any input from owners/former owners on B10 growllyness. Note: description for B10 & B2 are reversed in catalog pic.
Examples of basses whose growl I really like are Jackson JS3, Import BC Rich neck thrus and bolt ons NJ series with active 2band active eq, Ibanez Sr300, Esp Ltd B & F 154dx series. If I remember right the Washburn B10 tone control was more a mid control rather then trad tone. Preamp was boost and loZ conversion. Two volume, tone, 3way pup selector, and push/pull on one of the pots for active/passive selection incase battery went out.
I have a B15 that is PJ configuration but probably the same pre-amps and it growl a lot, but I put DR Black Beauty that got alone a good growl factor by itself. Also I got a XS-5 that's follow the ABT B series with the same JJ pick-ups and pre-amp as your B-10 got and it's one of my best sounding bass (even the B string is sounding hard), I put D'addario EXL165 on it.
Oooops its been sold. Shoulda gone ahead and ordered it yesterday. Had found it browsing GC used stuff couple days ago.
