Hey. Today, I may or may not come into possesion of a Yammer cab w/ and EV 18" in it. It's an 8ohm cab, w/ I believe somwhere around a 125-150 (the guy isn't too sure) watt handling capacity. It's only gonna be a bout $75-80 total, and I've seen it, it's in good condition.

    Two Beefs:
    1) When I put my 8 ohm XLT w/ it, the load becomes 4 ohms. The amp puts out 300w RMS at 4ohms..so does the 18" get 300 watts? Or does it still only get the 125/150 watts from the head, but now the head is just using all of it's power to drive two cabs?

    2) If it has a 125-150 watt hadnling...would putting the power from the head (and thus maxing the watts) drive it too much? Or would it be ok?

I'll do the best I can, but some of the techs can probably do better.

What's the peak output of the head? I wouldn't think an 18" would have 150 watt handling...that doesn't even sound like enough to really push the air. I don't think that the head would exceed the handling capacity of the cab as long as you didn't push it really hard. Check with others to see what they say.

Peak? Dunno. Head's not with me. It's and Eden WT-300. RMS is 300watts. I thought peak was ...600? I think I remember a 600 on the back for peak.

That rating sounds low for an EV 18" driver.

Well...The guy wasn't too sure. He himself got it used. However, I WILL be trying it (if indeed I am able to buy it) tonight, to check boom/mud factor, and what not.

Brad, you got any info on EV? The guy said "Buck Fifty, I think" in reference to the power handling...
  6. Crap 18's with a stamped steel frame can handle 150Watts. I would assume that an E.V. will handle a lot more.

As for your other question, NO the cab will not recieve the full 300 watts from your head. When you chain the two cabs together, they will share the power output. At full power, each cab should be recieving 150 watts. For an E.V. 18, that should be no problem. Nice score.

Woulda been a nice score. Just found out that the "May or may not" is in fact, the latter. Dammit. :(
