So about 10 days ago, one of my neighbors suddenly passed away (72 years of age). I didn't really know him, just that he lived with his mother, 92. she can't take care of the poor girl, so my wife and I took her in. however, we have 3 already, so it would be difficult to introduce a new one into the mix, especially since 1 died back in August (we had 4). She is licensed and I got her all her shots. I don't know if she was ever to the vet before. I also took her for a bath and grooming (because damn, she smelled to high heaven! ah well....) any way, she's obedient, intelligent, playful and seems to be enjoying her new life here. it would just be very difficult to keep her. we just couldn't leave her at the town animal shelter. going there was depressing. they had about 120 dogs looking for homes. which reminds me: in general, please adopt pets as opposed to buying. there are so many that need homes. only you can make a difference. here she is:
My God I hope someone adopts her!! This is heart-wrenching for me, because I love dogs so much. I hope she finds a nice home!!!
Well I don't live at home at the moment due to college, and we definitely can't handle a dog... but if I was to get a dog, I wouldn't mind taking that one. Cute bugger.
Idea: TB delivery chain. I would be willing to drive the dog into Pennsylvania, perhaps further. If I could get some of my friends together for a road trip this winter break I might go as far as Michigan. If you really would consider adopting the dog, I bet we could find a way to transport her. If there aren't enough people viewing this thread then we can sticky it and/or change the title. We just need a few more people in the delivery chain, especially someone in Ohio and/or Michigan. I'd love to adopt the dog myself, but my shepherd is a very mean alpha female and she doesn't get along well with other dogs. My parents said no way EDIT: Whoops, I think I misread what you wrote. Nevertheless, if any TB members in this general part of the world are interested in adopting a dog, we can work together to deliver her.
very kind of all of you we really would keep her, but it would be difficult to introduce a younger dog into a pack that's 6, 8 and 9. any and all help from wherever is appreciated.
I wish I could take in another--but I have a 3 month old son and my dog is just getting used to him. It would be too tough on him. I hope she finds a good home.
She didn't like you? A lot of dogs don't like new people at first, it just takes some time and effort to get on their good side. My good friend George didn't like me at first. I even tried bringing him some Chinese food, but he wouldn't take it from me. I allowed his owner, Mike, to give him the food and from then on George and I just clicked. Nowadays he's all happy tails whenever I'm around.
I can't believe I'm asking, but about how old is she? Is she spayed? You say she gets along with other dogs, no signs of aggression? What about towards people? (lot of small kids in the neighborhood) I have to admit, I'm smitten. The question is whether or not I can get the wife smitten as well. I know my Rott would be thrilled to have a play mate. Also, I like the idea of a delivery chain... It could work.
Nice dog, too bad my parents don't want one in the house she reminds me of my uncles old dog that passed away something like 5 years ago, very nice dog. Also 72 and living with his mom
