Anyone know a good combo bass?

    Title may be a little misleading....but I've been looking for a new bass lately, i like the jazz bass sound with the hollow body look...

    I saw a japanese fender that looked amazing! But it is far out of my budget a $1150


    Anyone know alternatives?

    My budget is around $600

    That is EXACTLY what i am looking for, but it is far out of my budget, so similar alternatives suggestions/pictures would be super helpful

    Also, i prefer maple fretboards, if possible...

    Where would you like me to be?
    Buy a J and paint a f hole on it, a hollow body is going to change the sound.

    I saw one somewhere, don't remember where, sounded great though...

    You could get a Warmoth J chambered body and pay them extra to add a soundhole, or add it yourself. Affects the sound, sure, not necessarily in a bad way. Also makes it lighter. Always trade-offs involved.

    I haven't try it, It doesn't have Fender Jazz Bass body shape either, but I have the feeling it can be about what you look for...and IMHO it looks cool too.. (I found some used for sale in eBay within your budget)..

    They could do that? cool...
    A bit out f my budget, not really going for all semi hollow..

    Like i said, I'm looking for an alternative to the above bass.

    To me, it makes the perfect sound, and it looks great.

    Thanks for the suggestion though, that bass looks pretty cool

    If it's only about the looks, get a sticker or paint one on. Or a router and make one.

    Well, it's not on their standard options list, but I believe they've been known to take custom orders, and if anyone knows how to do it, it'd be them. But if not, paint, sticker, or route - your choice! :)
    And yeah, the other thing about Warmoth is it does end up getting expensive.
