For college graduation, my uncle gave me a silver bar, but didn't tell me anything about it. It's marked as follows: 999+ FINE SILVER 10 TR. OZ. ENGLEHARD followed by a serial number I know it's not worth a ton, just based on the value of silver, but that's not what really concerns me. I just want to know the history of these things, etc. Thanks.
Those are cool. I have a few I paid about sixty bucks for a while back. Looks like they are worth about $135.00 right now. It's considered bullion silver. Check this site out. http://www.bulliondirect.com/catalo...F5108E85FF9F1B93BBCAA054D7EE030F?id=294952330
Mine is much plainer than that. No graphics, etc, just a large Engelhard logo. Hmm. Thanks for the help.
Save it for when you fall in love with the woman of your dreams and oh, wait, that's GOLD, not sliver. Screw that, then. In that case get a cool bass pickguard made from it or something.
I keep cutting up the ones I had for knife material. Combined with a little brass and copper, it's value goes WAY up Mokume: http://www.mokume-gane.com/Pages/What_is_Mokume.html
Somehow I figured Smash would be the one that knew what was going on here. I figured it wouldn't be worth a whole bunch. Apparently they're something he has a bit of a collection of. I doubt I'll ever go and sell the thing, because, really, I can't imagine myself hard up for 150$ to 300$. I'm more likely to keep it as a keepsake, etc. Thanks for all the help, guys.
