I’ve got P bass, J bass, j/p bass, double P, bass, but I’ve never seen a j/p bass. J in the neck and a p pickup at the bridge. Did anyone ever make a production bass like that? I might need to get a body blank and make one for the fun of it.

I’m thinking that’s what I’ll have to do...

You could take a Fender Blacktop Jazz and have it re-routed to accept a single-coil pickup in the neck position. One pickup and an MIM-compatible pickguard and you're golden. Plus, if you ever want to switch it back to it's original P/P config, just keep the original pickups and guard nearby. Easy-peasy! ;)

Ive also thought of taking a J-soap bar or humbucker and changing that out to a p bridge. less routing. foam it and screw it down
