Recently purchased a Washburn Rudy Sarzo Signature Bass (star shaped red/white rising sun graphic - Quiet Riot years). It has dual pickups with active electronic. Kinda trying to figure out what the controls do. Which hasn't been easy as I have a dead Bridge Pickup. It has 4 knobs, and one switch. Two pots have smooth operation thru the sweep - Volume controls? One pot has a slight detent thru the sweep - Tone Control? One pot is a definite 5 position switch - Pickup selector switch? What are the combinations at each position?? and The switch - Active on/off. These are my guesses can anyone confirm? Anyone have an extra bridge pickup they are looking to sell? (1-3/4" x 3-15/16" soap bar) Thanks
I played one once, I was out with my HO of a girlfreind, and a freind of mine was playing bass in this band, and he invited me up and let me play his Sarzo, on carry on my wayward son by kansas. It played nice and sounded great. That's all i can remember about it.Try contacting Washburn, someone in service should be able to get you a diagram. 1-800-877-6863 or www.washburn.com, there very nice I had one of those little white spacer gaskets pop out on my AB-20 a few years ago and I called there to see if I could get a few, and they sent me 4 brand new tuners.
Yes it is kind of a cool bass, realized last night it has an Ebony fretboard. My Favorite! Just got the name of a rep at Washburn, will try and contact Washburn to see if he is still there. But it looks like Washburn has been passed through a couple of distribustion company since the 80's, and there online archives only go back to the early 90s. So I'm wondering how much info they would have on a Hair Band Signature Series Bass. I also e-mailed the BassDude, as I was told he has a couple of these. He informed me that his Sarzo "twins" are prototypes and have differnt electronic than the production versions. And on top of it, the info I'm slowly finding on the internet is that there were active and passive versions, plus dual and single pickup models. Arrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!! But thank you both for the responses. Anyone else out there ever owned or played one of these.
